COTTAGE BY THE LAKE
Villa Paratiisi was built at 1961 as a hunting lodge and it is fully renovated during 2015-2017. The cottage and water are warmed by geothermal heating and our pump station takes care of all waste water. We do our best to minimize environmental stress.
The living room of the cottage has 2 tables, one for 12 persons and another for 8 persons, which can be connected as a one big table. A wood-heated fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere and brings warmth. Most of our furniture (chairs, sofa and cupboard) are bought second-hand and they are old traditional Finnish furniture. If they are not recycled, they are hand made in Finland (tables).
Our cottage has excellent room and equipment to prepare food both inside and outside. In the inside kitchen there is a gas stove, an electric oven, a microwave oven, a big refrigerator and A dish washer. There is also a coffee machine, a water cooker and tableware for 15 persons, e.g. wine and champagne glasses. In the outside kitchen there is a fireplace and campfire to prepare food on the open fire, and fridge for drinks.
In a main building there is one bedroom for 2 persons and one extra bed in a changing room of the sauna. There is one WC next to the bedroom and another in the shower room. Other 3 rooms are in 2 cottages which are next to main house. In cottages there is a room for 2 persons and 2 rooms for 3 persons. Altogether we have beds for 10+1 persons.
Our wood-heated sauna has room for 7 persons on the upper seat, and up to 5 persons on the lower level. In the sauna department there are 2 showers, WC and a room to change clothes. From sauna it is a short distance to the lake and the hot tub. In the wintertime we have also ice-swimming possibility.
TERRACE AND HOT WATER TUB
On the terrace of the sauna there is room for 25 people to sit by the table under the roof. On the terrace there is also campfire with seats around, and hot water tub for 7 persons. It´s wonderful place to relax also in the wintertime. There is evening sun on the terrace until 22.pm during summertime.
SLEEP IN THE WOODS
If you want to experience something different, you should overnight in our Woodland; Lean-to shelter or Tensile-tent. Close to the cottage and next to the lake we have our lean-to, a traditional Finnish shelter to stay overnight. In this lean-to there is room for 4 persons to sleep in sleeping bags. Another option is to sleep between trees, we can mount Tentsile- tree tent in the woods or by the lake.
IN THE WOODS
In the woods we have the Lapplander´s hut with campfire. Next to the hut we have the Bear-hut where we organize folklore programs about the bear mythology. Near the cottage there are well marked trails for hiking and wintertime for cross-country skiing.
Landscape was something entirely new, beautiful. It was something like spiritual time. Without any noise, just the nature. Listen the stories from traditions was really nice. The respect of animals and the forest was really great.
I felt in love with this place. Wild, nature, plants, open kitchen, Finnish way of life. Everything was perfect. Thank you so much for letting us discover such a magical place.
